Apply for Building Permits in Cameron Texas
Building Permits

The Building Permit Application should be completed prior to beginning any new construction or renovations.

The form can be obtained from City Hall or download a pdf version of the form from the link above. If you require assistance in completing the form the City Code Enforcement Officer, Stanley Garrison, can provide assistance.

Building Permit Applications can be submitted in person at 101 S. Houston, Cameron City Hall,  McLane Municipal Center or email the completed form to Stanley Garrison at sgarrison@camerontexas.net.


New Constructions Permits Fees

  • Plan Review Fees: based on individual project size 
  • Building Permit:  7.5¢ per square foot; due when permit is issued

  • Inspection Fees:  $50.00 / trip; number of inspections is dependent upon the size and nature of a project


Timeline from Submission to Permitting

In general, given submission of all the necessary documentation a permit can be issued in a week to 10 days of submission.

Required Information for New Construction and Building Additions
  1. Site Plan
  2. Electrical layout / Load calculation if applicable
  3. Mechanical Code Compliance Report
  4. Foundation plan
  5. Framing plan
  6. Plumbing plan /layout if applicable

♦ All residential projects changing the livable structure of the building or exceeding $10,000.00 in value must be done by State Licensed contractors and the project must be registers with Texas Residential Construction Commission.
♦♦Three (3) set of plans are required.  One set will be returned.

Certificate of Occupancy

When all construction and inspections are complete, apply for the Certificate of Occupancy.  An application form can be obtained from City Hall or complete and submit the Certificate of Occupancy Application to City Hall at 100 S. Houston Street.
